Homayun Sakhi
Homayun Sakhi is an Afghan musician best known as a virtuoso of the rubāb (also spelled rubab), a short‑necked lute central to Afghan classical and folk traditions. He’s been widely recognized for bringing the instrument to new audiences through both traditional repertoire and adventurous collaborations.
His recordings include **_Music of Central Asia, Vol. 3: Homayun Sakhi – The Art of the Afghan Rubâb_**, part of the Smithsonian Folkways “Music of Central Asia” series, which spotlights his playing and the rubāb’s rich musical language.
