Monody

Monody is a band formed in 2006 in Portland, Oregon. The group consists of Geoff Tripoli on lead vocals and lyrics, David Battrick on drums and electronic percussion, and Daniel Edgar handling synths, composition, engineering, and production. Monody's music style blends elements of synthpop and electronic music, reflecting influences from European synthpop, 80s post-punk, and industrial genres. Over the years, they have released several notable works, including the album "Of Iron and Clay" in 2011, an instrumental version titled "Of Iron and Clay: Voiceless" in 2021, and more recent EPs like "Subtle Dissent" in 2022 and "A Safe Place" in 2023. Their music often features in various media, such as the TV show "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown," and they have been associated with labels like Remote Music and Distortion Productions.

Monody's members bring diverse musical backgrounds to the table. Geoff Tripoli started with piano lessons and later moved to electric guitar, while David Battrick has a strong background in percussion, having studied under Roger Allen. Daniel Edgar's early influences include synthpop and industrial music, which are evident in Monody's compositions. The band's recent releases showcase their evolving sound, incorporating new themes and collaborations with other artists.
