Fenix TX is an American pop-punk band that rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, known for their energetic music and emotionally charged lyrics. Originally formed in 1995 under the name Riverfenix in Houston, Texas, the band soon had to change its moniker to Fenix TX following cease and desist orders from the estate of late actor River Phoenix. The group, originally composed of members Will Salazar (vocals, guitar), Damon De La Paz (drums, guitar), Adam Lewis (guitar), and Donnie Reyes (bass), released their self-titled debut album "Fenix TX" in 1999 after signing with Drive-Thru Records. This eponymous release quickly gained traction in the burgeoning punk scene with hits like "All My Fault" and "Speechless," showcasing their potent blend of punk rock and melodic elements.
Following their successful debut, Fenix TX continued to build their reputation with the 2001 release of "Lechuza," an album that demonstrated musical maturity and contained fan favorites such as "Threesome" and "Phoebe Cates." Despite their growing fanbase and critical acclaim, the band experienced internal struggles and went on hiatus in 2002. They reformed briefly in 2005 to release the live album "Purple Reign in Blood" but then fell into a period of inactivity. In 2016, Fenix TX reminded fans of their knack for crafting infectious punk melodies with the EP "Creep," a five-track taste of their signature sound after years away from the spotlight. The band's ability to navigate changes in the music industry and the enduring appeal of their early work has cemented their status as a resilient force in the pop-punk scene.
