Fernando Brant

Fernando Brant was a celebrated Brazilian songwriter and journalist, renowned for his influential role in the country's MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) movement. Born on October 9, 1946, in Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brant was a key figure in the Tropicália movement, which combined traditional Brazilian music with foreign influences. He is best known for his long-term collaboration with musician Milton Nascimento, with whom he co-authored several classic songs, including "Travessia" which brought both artists national recognition.

Over his career, Brant's poetic style resonated with themes of social awareness, love, and Brazilian identity, making him one of the most respected lyricists of his time. His works, such as "Diamantina," "Vendedor de Sonhos," "Quem Perguntou por Mim," "Lucas," and "Conspiração dos Poetas," showcase the depth and diversity of his songwriting.
