To Rococo Rot

To Rococo Rot was an influential German electronic music group that melded the minimalist aesthetics of post-rock with electronic textures and a subtle use of melody. Formed in 1995 in Berlin, the group consisted of brothers Robert and Ronald Lippok and bassist Stefan Schneider. Together, they crafted a distinctive sound that stood out for its blend of experimental electronics with warm, organic instrumentation, distinguishing them in the world of post-rock and minimal techno.

Throughout their career, which spanned nearly two decades, To Rococo Rot released several critically acclaimed albums and EPs that showcased their evolving sound. Albums such as "Veiculo" (1997) and "The Amateur View" (1999) garnered attention for their innovative fusion of electronic loops with conventional instruments. Their later works, like "Speculation" (2010) and "Instrument" (2014), further refined their approach, incorporating a broader range of influences and sounds. The band had a reputation for their engaging live performances, which often featured improvisational flair. Although To Rococo Rot disbanded in 2014, their music remains a significant reference point for artists exploring the intersection of electronic music and post-rock genres.
