Alan Davey

Alan Davey is a British bassist and songwriter best known for his high-energy role in the space rock legends Hawkwind, where he thundered through the cosmos on bass from 1984 to 2007. With a knack for fuzzed-out riffs and sci-fi storytelling, he became a key part of Hawkwind’s signature sound during their prolific ’80s and ’90s era. After leaving the band, Davey kept the interstellar vibes alive with projects like Gunslinger, solo albums, and collaborations—including fiery live performances of Hawkwind classics like *Hall of the Mountain Grill*. More recently, he’s leaned into tribute territory, honoring influences like Motörhead (*Born to Booze, Live to Sin*) and revisiting cult favorites like *Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters* in live settings. A lifelong rock ’n’ roll road warrior, Davey’s work still rides that line between gritty punk attitude and trippy psychedelic exploration.
