Ras Kass

Ras Kass (born John Austin) is a Los Angeles rapper known for dense lyricism, sharp social commentary, and an uncompromising, politically charged point of view. He broke through in the late ’90s and early 2000s as part of the West Coast’s underground and “lyricist” rap lane, earning a reputation as a bar-heavy writer who wasn’t afraid to take on big topics—race, history, religion, and American power structures—head-on.

Across his catalog he’s been closely associated with the Cali Agents project (with Planet Asia) and has worked with a wide range of respected hip-hop producers and MCs.
