Grayston Ives, also known as Bill Ives, is a British composer, singer, and choral director born in 1948. He began his musical journey as a chorister at Ely Cathedral and later studied music at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Ives was a member of The King's Singers from 1978 to 1985 and later became the organist and choir director at Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1991 to 2009. During his tenure at Magdalen, he directed the choir in numerous recordings, including a Grammy-nominated album featuring the works of Orlando Gibbons and a Classical BRIT Award-winning album of Paul McCartney's *Ecce Cor Meum*.
As a composer, Grayston Ives is known for his sacred and secular choral music, with notable works such as the *Canterbury Te Deum* and *The Gift of Grace*. His compositions often reflect his involvement in liturgical music, and he has been recognized for his contributions to church music, including being made a Fellow of the Royal School of Church Music. Recent works include a *Requiem* recorded by the Choirs of Jesus College, Cambridge, and the Britten Sinfonia in 2021.
