Built For The Sea

Built for the Sea is an indie rock band formed by Lia Rose in December 2005. The band is known for its oceanic indie rock sound, which has been compared to artists like Mazzy Star, Radiohead, and The Cranberries. They have performed at notable events such as the SXSW Conference and San Francisco's Noise Pop festival. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2006, showcasing a mesmerizing and hypnotic sound that resonated with audiences.

Lia Rose, the band's founder, has a background in music and science. She grew up surrounded by music, having been part of a family that owned a musical wind chime business. Rose's musical journey began with the guitar and later expanded to include bass and piano. Her experiences in the band Minipop also influenced her musical direction before forming Built for the Sea. The band's music reflects Rose's desire for a "big sound," which they successfully achieved through their performances and recordings.
