Fiona Driver is a talented fiddler, violinist, composer, and music teacher hailing from Orkney. She discovered her passion for the fiddle at age fourteen when she found her great grandfather Percy Driver's fiddle and bow in a family barn. Fiona grew up in a unique, off-grid environment on the Orkney Islands, where her family lived without electricity or running water for many years, an experience she credits with shaping who she is today. Besides performing and composing, she is also known for her dedication to teaching and for recording innovative projects such as Orkney's first album of birdsong, "Orkney at Dawn".
Fiona’s deep connection to Orkney and its musical heritage shines through her work, which often draws inspiration from the island's landscape and culture. Alongside her husband, Trevor Hunter, she has been a vital figure in promoting fiddle music from Orkney and Shetland, now based in Inverness continuing to develop her craft and share her love for traditional music. Her recent releases like "Orkney At Dawn," "Orkney Fire," and "The Orkney Fiddler" showcase her skillful playing and heartfelt compositions rooted in her island upbringing.
