Tesla

Tesla is an American rock band hailing from Sacramento, California, formed in 1984. Originally known as City Kidd, they changed their name to Tesla during the recording of their first album, "Mechanical Resonance," which was released in 1986 and showcased a blend of hard rock and blues with a noticeable '70s influence. Tesla stood apart from the glam metal scene dominating at the time, preferring a more straightforward, bluesy rock style with thoughtfully crafted songs and no-frills production.

The lineup consisted of lead vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarists Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch, bassist Brian Wheat, and drummer Troy Luccketta. Throughout the years, Tesla's music evolved but always maintained a foundation in hard rock blended with a touch of blues and balladry. Their connection with their fans was fortified through their dynamic live performances, as captured in releases like "Five Man Acoustical Jam" and the later "Five Man London Jam,” revealing an intimate and raw side to their music. Achieving their greatest commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits such as "Love Song," "Signs," and "The Way It Is," Tesla has remained resilient through the decades, even as the band underwent line-up changes, with Tommy Skeoch departing and later being replaced by guitarist Dave Rude. With a career spanning over three decades, Tesla continues to record and tour, contributing significantly to the rock music scene with authenticity and passion. Their more recent works, such as "Simplicity" and "Shock," continue to embody the rich, robust energy that has been the band's signature since their inception.
