Glam Rock

Glam rock is a flamboyant and theatrical genre that emerged in the late 1960s and flourished in the 1970s. Characterized by its blend of catchy hooks, anthemic choruses, and eclectic instrumentation, glam rock combines elements of rock, pop, and proto-punk with a strong emphasis on visual spectacle and androgynous fashion. Born out of the UK's underground club scene, glam rock's early years were marked by its fusion of bohemian glamor and rebellious energy, with artists incorporating elaborate costumes, makeup, and personas into their acts. At its peak, glam rock's bombastic sound, often featuring layered harmonies, crunchy guitars, and operatic vocals, captivated audiences worldwide, influencing subsequent genres like punk, new wave, and arena rock. With its irreverent spirit, fluid identity, and undeniable showmanship, glam rock remains a vibrant and enduring force in the history of popular music.
