Rüdiger Lorenz

Rüdiger Lorenz was a German pharmacist and electronic musician known for his extensive collection of analog synthesizers and his prolific output of albums. Born on September 1, 1941, Lorenz began his musical journey with piano lessons and playing guitar in local bands during the 1960s. He became fascinated with electronic music in the late 1960s, particularly after being introduced to the Moog synthesizer. This led him to build his own synthesizers and effects units, eventually creating a studio in his home. Lorenz released his first cassette album in 1981, marking the beginning of a productive career that spanned over three decades. He produced eighteen solo albums, often releasing them on his own label, Syncord Records. His music often featured sci-fi themes and experimental soundscapes, reflecting his interest in electronic and cosmic music.

Lorenz's work gained recognition within the DIY cassette culture of the early 1980s, and his albums were popular in the U.S. He continued to release music until 1998, two years before his untimely death in 2000. His legacy lives on through his son, Tim Lorenz, who continues to produce electronic music and manage his father's musical estate. Recent releases like *Synrise* and *Southland* showcase Lorenz's early tape recordings and highlight his unique contribution to the world of electronic music.
