CASIOPEA

CASIOPEA, arguably one of the most influential and revered Japanese jazz fusion bands, has left an indelible mark on the genre since their formation in 1976. The group was originally founded by guitarist Issei Noro, bassist Tetsuo Sakurai, keyboardist Hidehiko Koike, and drummer Takashi Sasaki. Though the band's lineup has seen changes over the years, Noro and Sakurai remained the core members until Sakurai's departure in the early 2000s. CASIOPEA distinguished itself with a sound that blends intricate compositions, technical prowess, and a smooth, electrifying fusion of jazz, rock, funk, and R&B, which has captivated audiences both in Japan and around the world.

As prolific recording artists, CASIOPEA's discography is a testament to their evolving sound and dedication to their craft. Their work in the 21st century, as evidenced by releases such as "Material," "Freshness," and "Asian Dreamer," continues to showcase their signature blend of complex, uplifting melodies and virtuosic musicianship. In particular, the "CASIOPEA plays Guitar MINUS ONE" series, including titles like "SIGNAL," "Bitter Sweet," "PLACES," "MARBLE," and "INSPIRE," demonstrates the band's engagement with their fan base, offering a unique opportunity for listeners to appreciate the intricate guitar work that has been a cornerstone of the band's sound.
