He began playing music as a teenager and was known for his raw, emotional vocals and his distinctive slide guitar style. McClennan's music was heavily influenced by the Delta blues tradition, and he often sang about the hardships and struggles of everyday life. He recorded several albums in the 1960s and 1970s, including "It's Hard to Be Lonesome" and "Tommy McClennan Vol. 1 'Whiskey Head Woman.'" McClennan died in 1968, but his music continues to be celebrated and enjoyed by blues fans around the world.
