Tacoma Radar is a Scottish indie pop and slowcore band formed in the late 1990s, based between Edinburgh and Glasgow. The band developed a cult following with their atmospheric, melancholic sound, releasing singles like *Tuckahoe* and *Pilothouse* on the Glasgow label Andmoresound, which they shared with Camera Obscura. Their sole full-length album, *No One Waved Goodbye* (2003), produced at Chem19 studio and mastered at Abbey Road, received positive reviews and drew comparisons to bands like Galaxie 500 for its shimmering, textured soundscapes. The band’s original lineup featured Kenny Anderson on drums, Richie Ferguson on guitar, Andy Hazel on bass and keyboards, and Jennifer Cosgrove handling vocals, guitar, and violin.
Despite critical acclaim and support from John Peel, the band struggled to reach a wider audience due to lineup changes and members leaving for other projects or studies. Tacoma Radar opened for acts such as American Analog Set and Bright Eyes, leaving behind a legacy as quiet achievers in the Scottish indie scene alongside peers like Belle and Sebastian and Arab Strap. Their music, especially *No One Waved Goodbye*, continues to be celebrated in cult circles, with recent deluxe reissues bringing renewed attention to their delicate, melancholic melodies.
