Liquid Tension Experiment

Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) is a progressive metal supergroup formed in 1997, consisting of some of the most respected musicians in the genre. The original lineup features Dream Theater's John Petrucci (guitar) and Mike Portnoy (drums), alongside Jordan Rudess (keyboards) who would later join Dream Theater, and Tony Levin of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel fame on bass and Chapman Stick. Known for their instrumental prowess and complex compositions, LTE combines elements of metal, jazz, and classical music to create a sound that's both technically impressive and musically expansive.

The band released its self-titled debut album, "Liquid Tension Experiment," in 1998, and followed it up with "Liquid Tension Experiment 2" in 1999. These albums were met with critical acclaim and are seen as milestones in the progressive metal genre. After a long hiatus, during which members focused on their primary projects, the supergroup reconvened to produce "LTE3" which was released in 2021. This album marks the band's return after 22 years, showcasing their musical chemistry with tracks like "Hypersonic", "Beating the Odds", and "The Passage of Time". The Deluxe Edition of "LTE3" adds additional content for dedicated fans, cementing Liquid Tension Experiment's legacy as instrumental virtuosos who continue to push the boundaries of their craft.
