Felix Slováček is a renowned Czech clarinetist, saxophonist, conductor, and composer, known for his versatility across classical, jazz, and popular music genres. Born in 1943, he studied at the Prague Conservatory and quickly established himself as one of the leading instrumentalists in Czechoslovakia. Over his decades-long career, Slováček has become a staple of the Czech music scene, both as a soloist and as a collaborator with a wide range of ensembles and artists.
He gained particular fame through his work with the Dance Orchestra of Czechoslovak Radio and his long-running collaboration with singer Karel Gott. In addition to classical repertoire, Slováček has released albums that blend orchestral pop and jazz influences, showcasing his signature warm tone and virtuosity. Beyond performing, he’s also taken on roles as a conductor and has led the Felix Slováček Orchestra, further demonstrating his wide-ranging musical talents.
