Fredrik Pacius (1809–1891) was a German-born composer and conductor who became a key figure in Finnish music history. Often called the "Father of Finnish Music," he moved to Helsinki in 1835 and worked as a music teacher at the University of Helsinki. Pacius composed Finland's national anthem, "Maamme," which later influenced Estonia's anthem as well. His works include Finland’s first opera, *Kung Karls jakt* (The Hunt of King Charles), and incidental music for *The Princess of Cyprus*. His contributions laid the foundation for Finland's national music tradition, making him a celebrated figure in Nordic classical music.
