F.S.K.

F.S.K. (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle) is a quirky German band that emerged from Munich's late-1970s post-punk scene, blending wiry guitars, electronic experimentation, and deadpan humor. Originally part of the Neue Deutsche Welle movement, they became known for their satirical takes on consumer culture and bureaucracy, often delivered with a straight-faced irony that's become their signature. The group – whose name cheekily references Germany's film/music content rating system – evolved into a genre-blurring collective incorporating country, folk, and global influences, collaborating with artists like Die Toten Hosen and Chrislo Haas (DAF).

Still active after four decades, F.S.K. maintains their cult status through releases like *International* and *Tel Aviv* that mix absurdist storytelling with danceable rhythms. Their recent work continues to poke at modern life's contradictions, whether through twangy surf-rock instrumentals or lyrics dissecting digital-age anxieties, all while keeping that trademark Bavarian nonchalance intact.
