Horehound

Horehound is a heavy underground band from Pittsburgh, PA, formed in early 2015. They quickly gained popularity in their hometown and beyond, performing with both local legends and well-known touring acts. Their self-titled debut album, released in April 2016 via Blackseed Records, received significant attention in the heavy music media, appearing on the Doom Charts for two consecutive months. The band's sound is characterized by grinding guitar, haze-laden bass, bruising drums, and ethereally demanding vocals, drawing inspiration from bands like Kyuss, Melvins, and Alice in Chains.

Horehound's lineup includes founding members Shy Kennedy on vocals and Brendan Parrish on guitar, along with drummer JD Dauer and bassist Nick Kopco. Their second full-length album, "Holocene," was released on November 30, 2018, via Doom Stew Records. This album marked a significant evolution in their sound, delving deeper into dark, hardened post-doom metal. Shy Kennedy is also involved in other projects, including the experimental noise project O Heiðrún and organizing the Descendants Of Crom Festival in Pittsburgh. Horehound's music is known for its heavy, doomy, and catchy elements, making them a notable force in the underground metal scene.
