Frank Teschemacher

Frank Teschemacher was a prominent clarinetist and alto saxophonist in the Chicago jazz scene of the 1920s. Known for his energetic playing and improvisational skills, Teschemacher was a key figure in the development of Chicago-style jazz. He was a founding member of the Austin High Gang, a group of young white musicians who helped popularize the genre. His distinctive clarinet style, often described as "hot" and full of vibrato, made him a sought-after musician for both recordings and live performances. Sadly, his promising career was cut short by a car accident in 1932.

Despite his relatively short career, Teschemacher left a lasting impact on jazz music. He played alongside other jazz greats like Bix Beiderbecke, Eddie Condon, and Bud Freeman, and his recordings offer a glimpse into the vibrant Chicago jazz scene of the Roaring Twenties. He's remembered for his contributions to the development of Chicago-style jazz and his exciting, innovative playing.
