ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE is a wildly prolific and genre-blurring Japanese psychedelic rock collective led by guitarist Kawabata Makoto. Founded in 1995 as Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O., the group quickly became known for their intense sonic explorations, blending space rock, progressive psych, drone, and experimental music into sprawling, high-energy performances and recordings. The band's rotating lineup and free-form creative structure have resulted in hundreds of releases under a variety of Acid Mothers-affiliated names, each bringing their own flavor to the band's cosmic soundscapes.
Their music often features long instrumental jams, hypnotic riffs, and just the right touch of cosmic weirdness, drawing comparisons to Gong, Hawkwind, and other psych legends.
