The Social Act Band

**The Social Act Band** is a long-running rock outfit from the Chicago scene, kicked off back in 1986-87 when Ellis Clark and the late drummer David Sheiky (originally Ishiki) teamed up with guitarist John Krenger to finish a studio track that sparked the whole band. They've been grinding ever since, hitting festivals and clubs across Chicagoland, LA, and beyond, sharing stages with heavyweights like Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, and UB40, while dropping albums like *Today's Tomorrow* (2017) and recent singles such as "Not Sure," "A Christmas Song," and "Hey Yay (Radio Edit)" in 2025.

These days, Ellis handles lead vocals, John rips on guitar, with a killer 2024 lineup featuring drummer Steve Gillis (ex-Filter), bassist Matt Thompson, lead guitarist Grant Tye, and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Tedder on keys and sax—guys with credits from Conan, Peter Himmelman, and more. After lineup shifts, including the loss of original drummer Dave in 1994, they've kept the fire alive with fresh releases, radio play, and plans for a packed 2025 tour schedule.
