Friendly Rich is a Canadian composer and musician known for his unique blend of avant-garde, experimental, and satirical music. Based in Brampton, Ontario, he is the founder of The Lollipop People, an ensemble that often accompanies his theatrical, genre-defying performances. Drawing influence from cabaret, punk, classical, and circus music, Friendly Rich has built a cult following with his eclectic sound and irreverent lyrical content.
Over the years, Friendly Rich has released numerous albums and collaborated with a wide variety of artists. His work includes interpretations of Canadian underground icons, as well as tributes to musical innovators like John Cage. He holds a Ph.D. in music education and is also known for curating events that showcase unconventional and outsider music, further cementing his role as an influential figure in Canada’s experimental music scene.
