Joe Pernice is an American singer-songwriter best known as the driving force behind the indie rock band the Pernice Brothers. He first came to wider attention in the 1990s as a member of the Boston-area band Scud Mountain Boys, and later launched the Pernice Brothers project, which became widely admired for its literate, emotionally sharp songwriting and melodic, understated rock arrangements.
Across his work—both with the Pernice Brothers and under his own name—Pernice has built a reputation as a craft-focused writer with a knack for mixing beautiful pop instincts with darker lyrical turns. In addition to his music career, he’s also published fiction, including a novel titled *It Feels So Good When I Stop*.
