Ramon Valle

**Ramón Valle** is a Cuban jazz pianist and composer born on December 29, 1964, in Holguín, Cuba. He began studying piano at the tender age of seven at the Escuela Nacional de Arte and later graduated from the Havana Academy of Arts in 1984. Valle initially played trumpet, following in his father's footsteps, but switched to piano early on, quickly developing a deep passion for the instrument. His playing is strongly influenced by jazz greats such as Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock, as well as Cuban icons like Chucho Valdés, who praised him as one of the greatest talents among young Cuban pianists. Valle’s music combines Afro-Cuban rhythms with expansive jazz improvisation, creating a unique and captivating sound.

Since leaving Cuba in the 1990s, Valle has lived mostly in Amsterdam, establishing a prolific international career. He has released numerous albums as a leader, including *Playground*, *Flashes from Holland*, and *Take Off*, often performing with his trio. Known for his charismatic stage presence and improvisational skill, Valle’s performances are described as both intimate storytelling and dynamic musical journeys. His composition "Levitando" has become a well-known Cuban jazz anthem worldwide. Valle’s work bridges traditional Cuban music and contemporary jazz, earning acclaim at festivals such as North Sea Jazz and Montreux, and he continues to inspire audiences globally with his expressive and thoughtful piano artistry.
