ARASHI is a Japanese pop boy band formed in 1999 under Johnny & Associates. The group’s five members are Satoshi Ohno, Sho Sakurai, Masaki Aiba, Kazunari Ninomiya, and Jun Matsumoto. They became one of Japan’s biggest acts across the 2000s and 2010s, known for glossy, upbeat J-pop that often blended in dance-pop, rock, and electronic touches, alongside highly produced live shows and a huge media presence.
In 2019, ARASHI expanded their international reach by putting more of their catalog on global streaming services and collaborating with overseas producers, leading into releases like *Turning Up* and later the album *This is ARASHI* (2020). The group announced in 2019 that they would go on hiatus, and they paused group activities at the end of 2020.
