Leonard "Lowdown" Brown is a respected blues guitarist and singer known for his electric guitar skills and soulful voice, largely rooted in the Houston music scene. Born in 1953, he started his musical journey playing gospel and quartet groups in Chicago before moving to Houston in the early 1980s. There, he became a fixture in the blues community, earning his nickname "Lowdown" at the 1988 Benson and Hedges Houston Blues Festival. Brown draws inspiration from legends like B.B. King and T-Bone Walker, blending traditional Chicago blues and soul into his own expressive style.
Over his long career, Brown has opened for iconic artists such as Sister Sledge and Bobby Bland, and remains active both on stage and in the studio. His recent work includes the 2024 album *Street Party* and the 2023 release *Blues Is Calling Me*, showcasing his signature blend of soulful blues guitar and heartfelt vocals, often supported by tight backing ensembles.
