Youth Lagoon

Youth Lagoon was the stage name of American musician Trevor Powers, who specialized in a blend of dream pop, neopsychedelic, and indie rock music. Powers began his career as Youth Lagoon in 2010, and quickly gained attention with his emotive and atmospheric sound, characterized by its lo-fi production and introspective themes. Youth Lagoon's breakout came with the 2011 debut album, "The Year of Hibernation," which, despite being recorded in Powers' bedroom, received widespread critical acclaim for its poignant lyrics and immersive soundscapes. The success of tracks like "July" and "Cannons" helped establish Youth Lagoon as a significant new force in the indie music scene.

Over the next few years, Youth Lagoon released two more albums that continued to evolve his sonic palette. 2013 saw the release of "Wondrous Bughouse," an album that delved deeper into psychedelic territory and explored themes of the metaphysical, earning praise for its richly layered production and expansive approach. Powers' third and final album, "Savage Hills Ballroom," arrived in 2015, demonstrating a sharper, more direct sound with tracks such as "The Knower" and "Highway Patrol Stun Gun." The project reflected a period of personal turmoil and introspection for Powers, with noticeably more polished production. Subsequent singles like "Rotten Human" continued to unpack the complexities of the human psyche. In 2016, Powers announced the end of Youth Lagoon, seeking to explore new directions and retire the moniker that had brought him into the limelight.
