Jesu is the brainchild of British musician Justin Broadrick, who founded the project following the dissolution of his influential industrial band Godflesh. Emerged as a solo venture in 2003, Jesu was named after the last song on the final Godflesh studio album, "Hymns." Broadrick's work under the Jesu moniker is characterized by its experimental fusion of heavy metal, shoegaze, ambient, and post-rock elements, creating a haunting and melancholic sound distinct from the guttural aggressiveness of Godflesh.
