Bertrand Cuiller

Bertrand Cuiller is a versatile French harpsichordist known for his extensive involvement in both solo performances and chamber music. Born into a family of musicians, he began playing the harpsichord at the age of eight with his mother, Jocelyne Cuiller. Cuiller's early mentor was Pierre Hantaï, whom he met at thirteen, and he later studied with Christophe Rousset at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Notably, he won third prize at the Bruges International Harpsichord Competition in 1998. Cuiller has worked with prominent ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, Le Concert Spirituel, and Le Poème Harmonique, and has led his own ensemble, Le Caravansérail.

His discography reflects a broad repertoire, including music by English composers like William Byrd and John Bull, Italian composers such as Domenico Scarlatti, and French composers like Jean-Philippe Rameau. He has recorded works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including concertos for multiple harpsichords, and has participated in projects like the Scarlatti 555 initiative. Cuiller's performances and recordings are highly regarded, showcasing his mastery of the harpsichord and his dedication to historical performance practices.
