Javid Afsari Rad

Javid Afsari Rad is a renowned Iranian-born musician, composer, and artistic director, best known for his mastery of the Persian santur. Born in 1965 in Isfahan, Iran, he began studying traditional Persian music at the age of sixteen with prominent mentors like Parviz Meshkatian and Faramarz Payvar. In 1986, he moved to Norway, where he also earned a degree in Musicology from the University of Oslo. Javid's compositions blend Persian classical music with Western classical traditions, creating a unique fusion that has captivated audiences worldwide. He is the artistic director of several ensembles, including ComboNations, Rumi Ensemble, and the Norwegian World Orchestra.

Javid's recent works include albums like *Lalehzar*, *Creation*, and *Afarinesh*, which have been praised for their emotional depth and orchestral complexity. His music often features collaborations with musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, reflecting his passion for cross-cultural musical expression. Throughout his career, Javid has performed at numerous international festivals and has composed commissioned works, including a piece for the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in 2006. In 2008, he was honored as the Municipality of Oslo's "Artist of the Year" for his contributions to the musical landscape.
