Franco Piersanti is an Italian composer and conductor born on January 12, 1950 in Rome. He's best known for his work in film music, having scored numerous Italian movies since the 1970s. Piersanti studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory, where he learned composition and conducting. He got his big break in film scoring with Nanni Moretti's 1976 film "I Am Self Sufficient" and went on to collaborate frequently with directors like Moretti and Gianni Amelio.
Over his long career, Piersanti has composed for acclaimed films like "The Stolen Children", "Lamerica", and "The Caiman". He's won multiple David di Donatello Awards, which are major Italian film awards, for his film scores. In addition to movies, Piersanti has also composed music for television, including the popular "Inspector Montalbano" series.
