Amalgama

**Amalgama** is an Indonesian experimental metal band hailing from Bandung, known for fusing traditional Sundanese musical elements with raw, sludgy metalcore. Emerging around 2017, the group has carved a niche by incorporating instruments like the *kacapi* (zither) and *suling* (bamboo flute) into their pummeling riffs and chaotic breakdowns, creating a sound that’s both culturally rooted and aggressively modern. Tracks like **"Tanduk Baja"** and **"Buta"** showcase their knack for weaving folklore and social commentary into lyrics delivered in a mix of Sundanese and Indonesian, while **"Nomaden"** reflects their thematic focus on displacement and identity. With a reputation for intense live performances and a DIY ethos, Amalgama has become a standout act in Southeast Asia’s underground metal scene, bridging heritage and heaviness in unexpected ways.
