He shot to fame as the lead singer of Cold Chisel, one of Australia's most beloved rock bands, which formed in the early 1970s. With hits like "Khe Sanh" and "Flame Trees," Cold Chisel helped define the Australian rock sound before disbanding in 1983.

Following the disbandment of Cold Chisel, Barnes embarked on a highly successful solo career, releasing his debut album "Bodyswerve" in 1984. Over the years, he has cemented his status as a rock icon, consistently releasing new music and touring to the delight of his fans. His body of work is expansive, with an impressive array of solo albums that explore various genres, including hard rock and soul.
