The Panics

The Panics are an indie rock band from Australia who’ve been crafting moody, melodic tunes since forming in Perth in the late ’90s. Known for their brooding, cinematic sound and frontman Jae Laffer’s distinctive vocals, the group (Drew Wootton, Paul Otway, Myles Wootton, and Jules Douglas) gained traction after relocating to Melbourne and releasing albums like *Cruel Guards* (2007), which snagged an ARIA Award for Best Adult Alternative Album. Tracks like "Don’t Fight It" and "Sleeps Like A Curse" showcase their knack for lush arrangements and introspective lyrics, while later releases like *Rain On The Humming Wire* (2012) and *A House On A Street In A Town I’m From* (2020) reveal a band that’s evolved without losing its atmospheric charm. They’ve toured internationally and maintained a loyal following for their warm, nostalgia-tinged rock that feels like a late-night drive through city lights.
