Robert Rawson

**Robert Rawson** is a professor of musicology and historically-informed performance, known for spearheading the award-winning ensemble *The Harmonious Society of Tickle-Fiddle Gentlemen*. Since founding the group in 2006, he’s focused on reviving overlooked Baroque gems, including Pepusch’s 1715 masque *Venus and Adonis* (awarded the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik in 2016) and the 2023 release *Chandos Anthems*, praised by *Gramophone Magazine* as an “Editor’s Choice.” His work bridges academic rigor and vibrant performance, particularly through recordings and concerts that spotlight Czech and British 17th-18th century music.

A seasoned scholar with over 50 publications, Rawson’s *Bohemian Baroque* book redefined perceptions of Central European musical networks. His projects often challenge modern assumptions about “peripheral” repertoires, blending archival research with commercial recordings that engage both experts and broader audiences through outlets like *The Guardian* and BBC Radio 3.
