Heavenly

Heavenly was a British indie pop band formed in Oxford, England in 1989. Emerging from the remnants of the band Talulah Gosh, Heavenly became a standout act of the indie pop and twee pop movements of the early '90s. The band—featuring Amelia Fletcher on vocals, along with Peter Momtchiloff, Rob Pursey, Mathew Fletcher, and later Cathy Rogers—was known for their jangly guitars, sweet harmonies, and deceptively sharp lyrical content that often explored feminist themes with wit and charm.

They debuted with the album Heavenly vs. Satan on Sarah Records, a label synonymous with the indie pop scene of the time. Heavenly followed it with several well-regarded releases including Le Jardin de Heavenly, The Decline and Fall of Heavenly, and Operation Heavenly. Their music evolved over the years, incorporating more complex instrumentation and production while maintaining their signature melodic sensibilities. Sadly, the band came to an end following the tragic death of drummer Mathew Fletcher in 1996. Despite their brief run, Heavenly remains a beloved name in indie pop history.
