Tizmoret is a professional Jewish a cappella group based at Queens College, led by musical director Daniel Henkin since its inception over 20 years ago. The group is known for performing a diverse repertoire that includes classic Jewish melodies, American pop music, and contemporary Israeli tunes. Tizmoret has gained national acclaim, winning several competitions such as the Long Island College A Cappella Challenge and the national Jewish collegiate a cappella competition, Kol HaOlam. They have also competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and performed at prestigious venues like Merkin Hall and Symphony Space, as well as the White House Hanukkah party in 2014.
Tizmoret has released several albums, including "Safe In Sound," "Revival," "Score," "T20: Tizmoret's 20th Anniversary Alumni EP," "Where We Begin," "Start Listening," "Transitory," "Sounds In My Head," "Decade," and "Queensbound" . The group draws its members from college and post-graduate students in the New York City area, fostering not only musical talent but also lasting friendships and career opportunities.
