The Breeders are an American alternative rock band formed in 1989 by Kim Deal of the Pixies and Tanya Donelly of Throwing Muses. The band's initial fame came with the release of their second album, "Last Splash," in 1993, which featured the hit single "Cannonball." The infectious track and its accompanying music video propelled The Breeders to international acclaim, embedding them into the fabric of 90s rock. The group's lineup has fluctuated over the years, with Kim Deal remaining as the consistent core member, alongside her twin sister Kelley Deal, who joined shortly after the band first formed.
Following their breakthrough success, The Breeders underwent periods of hiatus and lineup changes. They have released several albums since, including "Mountain Battles" (2008), "Title TK" (2002), and after a decade-long gap, returned with "All Nerve" (2018), which reunited the classic "Last Splash" lineup. The Breeders' sound is characterized by their blend of punk, alternative rock, and melodic elements, and their music continues to influence a new generation of indie rock artists. Despite the band's intermittent periods of activity, The Breeders have retained a loyal fan base and continue to celebrate their past works, such as with the "Last Splash (30th Anniversary Edition)" while also looking forward with new releases that demonstrate their enduring talent and unique musical voice.
