TAWINGS is a Japanese alternative rock band based in Tokyo, formed in 2016. The band combines elements of garage rock, post-punk, and new wave in their sound. The current members include Cony Plankton on vocals and guitar, eliy on bass, and Yurika on drums. Formerly, Kanae was a part of the band, contributing percussion, vocals, and guitar. TAWINGS have been active in the music scene, supporting various overseas acts during their visits to Japan and receiving international attention, such as having their demo picked up by a radio station in Melbourne, Australia. They have released several notable singles, including "Listerine / Dad Cry," "Invisible / UTM," and their cover of Lou Reed's "Make Up." Their music often pops up in collaborative projects and compilations.
Some of their recent releases highlight their eclectic style, with tracks like "水仙" ("Suisen") and the aforementioned singles showcasing their ability to craft catchy, genre-bending songs.
