Margriet Tindemans

**Margriet Tindemans** (1951–2014) was a Dutch-born violinist, viola da gamba player, and early music specialist whose work breathed life into medieval and Baroque repertoire. With a passion for historical performance, she became a key figure in ensembles like Sequentia and the Huelgas Ensemble, helping audiences rediscover composers like Hildegard von Bingen through vivid, emotionally charged interpretations. Her collaborations stretched across continents, and she co-founded the groundbreaking medieval music group *Trio Medieval*, blending scholarly rigor with artistic flair.

A dedicated educator, Tindemans taught at Indiana University’s Early Music Institute, nurturing generations of musicians in historically informed practice. Her recordings, such as explorations of Jacquet de la Guerre’s sonatas or Handel’s cantatas, showcase her knack for balancing technical precision with storytelling. Though she passed away in 2014, her legacy lives on as a bridge between ancient scores and modern ears, turning dusty manuscripts into a treasure trove of human emotion and sound.
