fromis_9 is a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M, originally through the 2017 reality show "Idol School," which aimed to craft a new K-pop idol group through viewer voting. The nine-member ensemble debuted with their official name taking inspiration from the phrase "from Idol School" and encapsulating the number of members, who were finally selected to be part of the unit. fromis_9 officially entered the music scene on January 24, 2018, with their debut extended play, "To. Heart."
