Elyse Weinberg, born on October 25, 1945, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, was a singer-songwriter known for her unique blend of folk, rock, and psychedelic music. She began her career in the Toronto folk scene, eventually moving to Los Angeles where she befriended notable musicians like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. Her debut album, *Elyse*, released in 1969, featured a mix of folk and psychedelic rock, with contributions from Neil Young. Although her second album, *Greasepaint Smile*, was recorded in 1969, it wasn't released until much later due to label bankruptcy. Weinberg's music career was marked by periods of activity and hiatus, with a resurgence in the early 2000s that led to the reissue of her early work and the release of new material, including *In My Own Sweet Time* in 2009.
Weinberg's life took a turn away from music as she developed an interest in numerology and changed her name to Cori Bishop. However, she returned to music in the early 2000s, performing under the name Baby Cori and the Buds. Her songs have been covered by artists such as Vetiver, Dinosaur Jr., and Courtney Barnett. Elyse Weinberg passed away on February 20, 2020, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and influential figure in the late '60s music scene.
