Drab Majesty is an interdimensional musical project founded by musician Deb Demure, the androgynous alter-ego of Andrew Clinco. Deb, a fictional character created by Clinco, is portrayed as an alien being sent to Earth to deliver an important message through music. Drab Majesty combines post-punk, goth, and new wave sensibilities with ethereal guitars, electronic elements, and introspective, reverb-drenched vocals, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and futuristic.
The project emerged onto the music scene with the release of the debut album "Careless" in 2015 and soon established a cult following. As exemplified in albums like "The Demonstration" (2017) and "Modern Mirror" (2019), their work is characterized by themes of existential introspection, romanticism, and the complexities of modern life. Songs such as "Dot in the Sky," "Oxytocin," and "Ellipsis" showcase an enigmatic yet captivating aesthetic, somber and ceremonial in its presence. Drab Majesty's evocative visuals and theatrical live performances have further solidified their unique position within the alternative and underground music scenes.
