Medicine Head

Medicine Head was a British blues rock band that initially formed as a duo in the late 1960s. The core members were John Fiddler and Peter Hope-Evans, who met while attending school and later art college. They were known for their unique blend of blues and folk influences, often drawing inspiration from American one-man bands like Jesse Fuller. Medicine Head gained significant attention in the UK during the early 1970s, with hits like "One and One Is One" reaching number 3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1973. The band released several albums, including *New Bottles Old Medicine*, *Heavy on the Drum*, and *Dark Side of the Moon*, the latter of which was released in 1972, a year before Pink Floyd's similarly titled album. Over the years, the band's lineup varied, with notable contributions from Keith Relf of The Yardbirds.

Medicine Head's music often featured Fiddler on vocals, guitars, piano, and drums, while Hope-Evans played harmonica, Jew's harp, and guitar. Despite their commercial success in the UK, the band disbanded in 1977. However, John Fiddler continued to work under the Medicine Head name, releasing new material over the years. The band's legacy is marked by their distinctive sound and their connection to influential figures in British music, including John Peel and Keith Relf.
