Ovlov is an American indie rock band hailing from Newtown, Connecticut, carved out of the raw materials of 90s alternative rock and shoegaze. Formed by brothers Steve Hartlett (vocals, guitar) and Michael "Mike" Hartlett (drums), with the addition of their friend Theo Hartlett on bass, Ovlov came together in 2008. Their name, a palindrome for the Volvo brand, reflects the band's offbeat sensibility and appreciation for noisy, guitar-driven melodic rock.
After gaining traction in the underground scene with a series of EPs and splits, Ovlov released their full-length debut album, "Am", in 2013, to critical acclaim. The album showcased the band's signature blend of fuzzy guitars, lo-fi aesthetics, and catchy songwriting. Following a brief hiatus and subsequent reunion, Ovlov continued to delight their fans with a steady stream of releases, culminating in their second LP "TRU" in 2018. With other noteworthy releases such as the "Little Big League / Ovlov Split", and the more recent "Buds", Ovlov has remained a bastion of the indie rock scene, seamlessly incorporating elements from punk, noise pop, and grunge into their distinctive sound. Their most recent work continues to reflect their growth as a band and is celebrated for its craftsmanship and heartfelt delivery.
