Fuel is a hard rock band from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that hit the mainstream in the late '90s and early 2000s. Originally formed as Small the Joy in 1989, they went through a few lineup changes and name tweaks before landing on Fuel and signing to Epic Records. Their breakout came with the 1998 album *Sunburn*, featuring the hit single "Shimmer." They continued to ride that wave of success with their platinum-selling follow-up, *Something Like Human*, which spawned the massive rock radio staples "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" and "Bad Day." While the band has seen its share of lineup shifts over the years, with founding guitarist/songwriter Carl Bell departing in 2006, they've continued to tour and release new music, including the albums *Angels & Devils*, *Puppet Strings*, and most recently *Anomaly*.
While *Anomaly* marked a return to the band's heavier roots, the band has continued to explore its sound. Later releases like *When All Else Fails*, *Derealisation*, and *Brink of Extinction* showcase a band still actively creating and evolving their musical style. Though the lineup has shifted through the years, Fuel's dedication to powerful riffs and anthemic rock has remained a constant, continuing to resonate with their dedicated fanbase.
