Roger King is an accomplished keyboardist and producer best known for his long-standing collaboration with progressive rock legend Steve Hackett. Starting his career in the mid-1980s as an engineer and studio musician, Roger spent about two decades working behind the scenes with artists like Gary Moore, Jamelia, and Snoop Dogg before becoming Hackett’s musical right-hand man in both studio and live settings from the late 1990s onward. He contributed significantly as a keyboardist, co-writer, and producer on many of Hackett's albums and toured extensively with him for nearly 25 years. Roger was also a member of the progressive rock band The Mute Gods alongside Nick Beggs and Marco Minnemann.
His style is rooted in keyboards and synthesizers, often blending vintage sounds like the Mellotron with modern sampling techniques, creating lush textures fitting for progressive and ambient music. Recently, Roger announced his retirement from touring and hinted at stepping back from the music business after decades of a distinguished career, marking the end of an era for Hackett's band and his many fans worldwide. Beyond his work with Hackett, Roger has independently released albums such as *Forever My Home*, *Any Excuse*, and *Dust To Dust*, often exploring ambient and electronic landscapes.
